Hello Sunday Tinted Lip Balm SPF50 Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I love the way that SPF is getting playful with no adverse effect on sun protection. Hello Sunday Tinted Lip Balm SPF50 has combined all the efficacy you need from SPF50 with two creamy shades that are very wearable.

My only slight bug-bear with the description of the Hello Sunday Tinted Lip Balm SPF50 is that The Mauve One isn’t really all that mauve. It’s more of a nutty brown shade – really pretty, but low on the mauve vibes. The Rose One is quite rosy :-).

Back in the day, what make up to wear to the beach was a conundrum largely unsolved. I think now we’d say who needs make up at the beach? But go back a couple of decades and there was waterproof this, sweatproof that and endless tips on how to make your look stay all day in the searing heat. Not wearing make up to the beach just wasn’t an option. These tinted balms were exactly what we needed then because you really can wear these to the beach if you wanted. They’ve got the right level of thickness and protection to ensure your lips come to no harm while you’re laid out on your towel.

And that’s what makes them feel just the wrong side of comfortable for every day wear. Of course you need a density to the product to protect you at the claimed level, but on the other hand, that feels a bit too hefty for day to day. They’re pleasant – fruity flavoured but not in an offensive way – and a light covering feels perfectly okay. But if you go too light then you don’t get the protection and then here we are again on the endless circle of compromise.

Here’s how they look – ‘mauve’ on the left, pink on the right. It’s a bit of bleary Monday morning shot – my apologies. I would definitely wear both on holiday and accept the slightly weightier feel of them for prolonged sun exposure. However, we need to remember that a fully opaque lipstick will give your lips sun protection anyway – a good excuse to go super bright and impactful – and if you are fully lippied up at all times, there’s no need to swap your lipstick for an SPF balm. Hello Sunday SPF50 Tinted Lip Balms are £10 each but you can find them for £8 HERE.

I get very annoyed when brands say something is mauve and it isn’t. So many brands do this. I get excited when I see something described as mauve then when I investigate and it isn’t it is very irritating!
