Heat Treat

I should say straight up that Heat Treat comes with a warning. This is not the most attractive you’ll ever look in your life. But if you can face ten minutes with what is basically a hot, padded shower cap on your head, then your hair will thank you.

I can’t actually believe how well this worked – you pop it into the microwave on full power for two minutes and, after washing and adding conditioner, pop the Heat Treat cap on. So, you’ll need to get out of the shower after washing and applying conditioner, then go to the microwave, heat, then apply. I noticed that the instructions could be better – microwaves don’t have the same ‘full’ temperature – mine is 1000; others are 800, and I did initially find the cap a bit too hot in places where it rested on my head. I’d use 1.5 minutes on my microwave I think, in future.

It feels quite heavy as well as looking odd but it’s all very well worth it when you take it off and rinse out the conditioner. You can tell immediately that your hair is softer than a normal condition and mine blow dried beautifully. The following day, I still have swishy, shiny hair and I’ll certainly use it whenever I want to deep condition. The box comes with two sachets of conditioning treatment, but it will work well with any conditioning mask just to give it that boost. I’m very happy with this! It’s £24.95 which I think is expensive, but given that I’ll use it over and over again, maybe it’s ok. I’d recommend for dry hair and hair that tangles easily. It’s HERE.

  1. This seems really interesting. I’ve read about heat treatments and seen some studies that show it does something to the keratin in your hair to make it smoother, so I’m tempted to get one myself. Thanks for the review!

Looks good if it’s reusable.. I have frizzy curly hair, so I’m very tempted xx

You could probably get the same effect with a shower cap then wrap a hot towel around your head.

You really can’t.. that’s why I like it – you could strap a hot water bottle to your head maybe ?? ;-))))

This sounds right up my street…..do you wash it between uses??

There is a little plastic shower cap you wear inside it which you can wash or replace.

    Thank you!

Why don’t you just wash and condition don’t need no heat cap

I got a better result with a heat cap than normal washing and conditioning.
