DKNY Men vs Lacoste Challenge
DKNY Men (2009): This is described as having warm notes of bergamot, violet leaf and a touch of mandarin to its fragrance. It’s not a bad scent, but smells to me like many from before, and there is nothing really new here. According to Donna Karan, this fragrance is all about the “man and the city”. I would agree; but this DKNY man is 40-50, works in a bank/accounting department and wears a suit every day. It’s very much a traditional fragrance. I don’t see this appealing to a young, fresh guy that seeks something more daring, or with a twist. Which brings me on to Lacoste Challenge. Lacoste have not really done men’s fragrance too well before, and I never really enjoyed their flavours, but May 2009 has seen the release of Lacoste Challenge which I’m happy to say is very different to what’s gone before. They have tried to capture a more youthful, on-trend market, and I have to say this one wins for me out of the two. It’s perfect for summer; a little bit fruity with lively citrus and I can also smell some woods in it later. I’ve already had the unmeasurable bonus of two girls saying how good I smelled and that was actually at the gym after a workout! It’s a great any-occasion fragrance, and hey, if the girls love it……..
