Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation

Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation

[productsample/affiliate] There really are some great bases coming out at the moment – we are spoiled for choice. This one, made with no oil, silicones or alcohol, claims 97% natural ingredients. I’ve worn it several times now and have absolutely no complaints. It’s called a ‘natural glow’ base and in terms of finish, that doesn’t mean dewy or glowy exactly, but neither does it mean a flat matte. I think you could say the finish is as your skin is – a kind of neutral, natural finish before being either taken up with glow or taken down with matte. I just can’t think of the right word.. feel free to suggest.

Guerlain Foundation

The shade 03N is exactly right for me – a little bit warm without turning up the heat too much. At first I was bothered by the irregularity of the bottle but now I’m used to it – although it’s designed by Mathieu Lehanneur, it’s giving me Yayoi Kasuma feels and there’s something a bit human about it to my eye. In terms of performance – ideal for all skin types but I like it for older skin as it’s hydrating and light to medium in weight. There is built in probiotic-inspired technology if you have thrown your hat in that particular ring, as well as SPF20 and blue-light resistant coca bean extracts. The bigger deal is no oil – and yet, it has the softest feel, blends well on the complexion and while I don’t think I had a 16 hour last, it did me the day and I was happy with that. It’s pricy at £44 HERE, non Affiliate HERE.

I have been wanting to try this one when it hits my local Guerlain counter. I loved the Lumiere(sp) foundation and then they discontinued it.

  2. Ooh this sounds really exciting, especially as it’s 97% natural ingredients. I love the look of the bottle too.

How does this compare to Lingerie de Peau Aqua Nude? I bought it after reading your review and I love it so much – but this one sounds great, too!
    Thanks!

I’d say, from memory, that it’s not quite as light in texture as Aqua – this is a little bit thicker in application but does blend out very nicely.

Thanks! I’ll try to get a sample.

Oh, I managed to get matched and given a sample today. The counter manager thought I would be in the N range but after trying on my face no, I am 02C. So will have a good play and see how I like it.

    Hi beautiful.

I am a huge fan of my Guerlain Foundation, I’d love to check this out!

I know you said the weight is light to medium- does that mean the level of coverage is light to medium? If not, how would you describe the coverage?

Does this contain fragrance? If so, does it dissipate quickly?

Additionally, if you know what your skin tone is in MAC terms, can you please tell me what it is so I can have a frame of reference for what I should order? It’s impossible for me to get to a counter due to major health obstacles.

    Thank you!!!

Hi there, okay so the coverage is light/medium – you can build up to the finish you want. It’s not highly fragranced to my nose – it smells almost a bit powdery – although the packaging doesn’t suggest that it is free from fragrances. I couldn’t smell it on my face. I don’t know my tone in MAC currently – so sorry, but if you already have a Guerlain foundation in a shade that suits, give them a call to see if the new formula is a shade match for the old or what they might be able to suggest.

This doesn’t seem to be available in the US. It looks pretty and I love the shape of the bottle.
