Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Forte Florabloom Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Can we declare this summer a washout yet? I’m definitely not reaching for sunny floral fragrances at the moment but I think the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Forte Florabloom fulfills the flowery criteria without necessarily needing a lot of sunshine to go with it. If you aren’t a floral fragrance, this is definitely not for you because it’s, as the name suggests, a burst of creamy flowers.

The note that initially sings to me is the tuberose – that rich, night bloom headiness is just at the tipping point between being lavish and sensual and being too much. It’s backed up in its intensity by Grasse Centifolia rose which to my nose plays second fiddle to the tuberose but could be likened to an iron fist in a velvet glove – gently powerful.

It’s only after a while in the dry down that the powdery iris starts to make itself known – there’s violet in there too but if I’m honest, my nose is not sophisticated enough to find it away from the iris. All this floral abundance is smoothed by sandalwood and moss. It smells expensive – I had the impression of being in a luxury hotel lobby when everyone is making their way out to dinner and the trail of fancy fragrances that leaves behind. Just as a fun fact, Guerlain sources their alcohol for their fragrances from French beetroot from responsible farming. Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Forte Florabloom is £105 for 75ml HERE. Guerlain is putting a refill system in place (already available for some fragrances) so watch this space.

Will Guerlain ever smell the same again now I know that it’s beetroot based?
