[purchase/affiliate/ad] I had about 15 minutes flat in John Lewis last week so as you can see I spent it wisely by buying the brightest chunky knit I could find! Actually, I was just browsing and it jumped out at me – I have so few bright knits and I loved the bobbles, so….
…home it came! Despite the fact that it looks properly chunky, it’s very lightweight. I like the fact that it’s quite an open stitch because chunky jumper all very well to wear outdoors but you can nearly die of heat indoors – there’s a little bit of a through-breeze with this.
It’s from the Somerset collection by Alice Temperley at John Lewis which I’ve never bought from before. The textile is 40% polyamide, 30% acrylic, 15% wool and 15% alpaca so it’s very soft. If you are super sensitive to knitwear then it may not be for you unless you’re wearing something underneath it but for me, it doesn’t feel scratchy or itchy. I like things to be loose and boxy fitting and this ticks both those things. It’s true to size – this is a 12 and it’s the right length and has the right fall. I can wear it with either my black coated jeans, these old things in the picture (AG Jeans) or I’ve got a black and white animal print floaty skirt on the way so I think it will be fine with that too. It’s hand wash (boo) but I don’t find that a bother now I’ve discovered a rinse cycle on my washing machine – just steep in wool wash then stuff into the machine and it does the rest. It’s crazy that this is a recent discovery but there you are. There’s also a black version and sizes are 8-18. It’s £79 HERE.
