[unpaid/purchase/affiliate] As this month seems to be the dreariest February of all time, I’ve been making attempts to cheer up the house (and myself) with some beautiful bud vases I was given for Christmas. With bud vases, I feel the more the merrier and as I’ve been something of a hoarder of small vases, tiny milk bottles and Erlenmeyer flasks (long neck science bottles) for quite some time, I can make a variety of flower arrangements using many different vessels. They look as fresh on a winter’s afternoon as they do on a summer outdoor dining table and honestly, they’re just very cheering and endearing in the way that cute, tiny things can be. So, with that in mind, I have a few recommendations for joy bringing bud vases.
First up, the varying collections from florist, Sarah Raven, which, if you don’t know it, is like Boden for plants. It’s more expensive than other brands but there is always a chic-ness to their homewares that put flowers first and foremost. There are several sets of Jewel Vases – 9 for £64.95, 6 for £45.95 or 3 for £24.95. My option would for the 6 and split them up as a gift if you only want 3, not least because there’s £14 off spends over £40 using code 14LOVE HERE.
There’s this more ethereal set of 3 from Oliver Bonas for £19.50 HERE which is very spring like and delicate – made for sprigs of Angel’s Breath or found-on-walks budding twigs (don’t pick them, but if they drop they’re fair game in my view) – look out from now, if you live in the south, for Forsythia, but still a bit of time to go before those yellow petals show in the north.
Bringing complete clarity to any flower situation with a little touch of gold is this set from H&M for £10 HERE. The smallest, flattest one is perfect for extending the life of broken flower heads.
Back at Oliver Bonas, you’ll find this super cute and whimsical mushroom bud vases – I can’t think of anything nicer than finding sprigs and flowers for these. The set is £16/50 HERE.
There are any number of options on Amazon but I’ve picked this one out because I love the shapes. It’s £13.98 HERE. This shade looks like it’s made for greenery which widens your choice of filling significantly – think how lovely some trailing ivy would look! The main picture is my own set (gift but from Sarah Raven I think) – I bought a well past its best bunch of carnations in Tesco (£1.50) with broken stems, cut them down and plonked them in the vases. I felt like I’d done something very creative and I still feel smugly happy with myself for it 😉
