Friday Treat : Anything But Animal Jeans

[unpaid/affiliate] If you can actually get your hands on a pair of animal print jeans, I raise my (leopard print) beret to you! Everywhere from F&F at Tesco to Ganni has a variation on this theme and I’m not ready for it. In fact, a leopard retail storm is occurring as I write which is rendering pretty much all of them out of stock. I’ve ordered a pair of flare animal print leggings from ebay for £12 just to see if I can actually take to the look before making some kind of bigger investment but I just don’t see that they’re ever going to be for me. I can’t say why because I can see how fabulous they look on others. There is plenty of fashion speak about leopard print being a neutral but somehow, it enters a new category when it’s on your legs. So, I’ve gone around the houses for today’s Friday treat and found touches of leopard for everywhere but your pins because accents are a good way to acknowledge a trend without fully jumping in.

Starting gently, you are never going to go far wrong with a leopard print belt that will go with whatever you choose to tie up. A bit loose over a dress, nicely contrasting with black, white or blue jeans or even with your best black crepe trousers. It’s £35.99 at Mango and is available in S, M or L HERE.

There’s another easy win (in the sale) from All Saints made from alpaca and merino in the form of this throw around scarf. It’s £55.67 HERE, reduced from £109. A great accessory for denim jackets, long coats and your birthday suit if you like :-).

Also in the sale with only a couple of sizes left (12 and 16 I think) is this beautiful Canterbury coat from Boden. Zara is already featuring animal print coats so if you are either of those sizes, run HERE. It’s £130 from £260.

Hush has put a colour twist on traditional leopard print with this grey bomber – I’ve got a pair of wide, black satin trousers with a lacy edging that I’d easily pair this jacket with but I think any flare fit or wide leg is going to work with it. The Susie bomber is £150 HERE in sizes XS to XL.

Autumn shoes, yes – winter shoes, no. I can’t imagine getting snowy heels – urgh, I’m shivering just thinking about it but these White Stuff Mules are delicious for slouching around the house and looking extra trendy for the postman. They’ve got fleece trims inside so you can probably venture to Sainsburys without getting cold feet. They’re £65 HERE. These made me think about an older lady (80’s maybe) that I saw in Italy who had taken animal print to the next level. Everything was animal in varying species, from her sunglasses to her tights to her shoes and she looked absolutely bloody fabulous. I just thought, that is fashion freedom – wearing as much as you can of your favourite thing and literally not giving any f***s about what anyone else might think.

Catching on to the ‘very mindful, very demure’ trend that originated on TikTok, this hair bow is such a tasteful way to add an animal accessory. I’m thinking all black and just a dot of print in your hair – perfection. It’s £12.99 at Mango HERE. Everything about it is lean and slender so it’s an ideal contrast with jumpers and coats.

Finally, this cool cross-body (I love cross-bodies so much I can’t actually think about holding a handbag now). Dune’s version is small enough to make the point and big enough to carry your essentials which is all it needs to be. I’m sorely tempted over this one! It’s £75 HERE.

My top in the main picture is cheap as chips from Zara – £12.99 HERE and I wear it a lot. I’m looking for a big cream cardi to wear over it – preferably not wool – so if you have any pointers please do let me know! It’s not as sharp as I’d like because I had to crop it to cut out the can of fly spray next to me on the table. Reason No.879 that I’m not a fashion influencer 🙂
