[unpaid/affiliate] I am not a fan of a cardigan in general – they make me look as though I’ve given up on life, so I don’t have many in my wardrobe. However, one of my favourite pieces of clothing is a black cashmere long cardigan with a hood which I got for a bargain price on Brand Alley. It’s at least five years old and I don’t think I’d ever find another quite like it so I treat it very carefully. Long-line cardis just look so chic – I’m only 5ft 3ins so height is not a requirement. They’ve got a loungy vibe which looks amazing with Ugg boots (or similar) and jeans or, when you wear a shirt and dangle loads of necklaces over them, they’re immediately acceptable work or lunch wear. I’ve rounded up a few picks from around the internet that I think tick all the boxes for a warm and versatile piece for your winter wardrobe.
I’m not doing double denim with anything but this cosy looking cardi from Boden immediately appealed to me for winter walks, Christmas markets and long pub lunches. Wind an extra long, colourful scarf around your neck for next level warm-as-toast vibes. It’s £112 (down from £150) HERE.
Yes, another M&S gets it right moment! This long-liner is available in light grey or ‘natural’ as seen in the picture. I’m very tempted myself by this one especially as there is a delighted customer review from someone exactly my height. It’s £45 HERE. I’d style it with an animal print polo and any shape (except the denim abomination that is barrel leg) jeans.
Monsoon has thrown up a surprise here with this very elegant, beautifully flowing long-line. Better yet, there is 20% off. It’s got zip details on the cuffs which give it a bit of a biker edge and there’s nothing much you cannot wear this with. It’s £68 (was £85) HERE.
Finally, this black wool long-liner is from the same brand as my beloved cashmere, No. Eleven. It’s reduced from £350 to £109 which is a huge saving and is also how I ended up being able to afford an extra long cashmere hoodie! You may need to sign up or log in to purchase. Wear it in the car over your gym kit or wear it with loads of gold to anywhere fancy. It’s HERE.
