Estee Lauder Liquid Compact

I’ve had a very good scoot around the internet, and I really think that the Estee Lauder Liquid Compact is the first of its kind. The packaging (from FS Korea) is Korean (of course!) and the Estee Lauder group is all over Korean innovations at the moment, so it’s always good to see brands taking a first step in a new trend. I Periscoped this last night and gave it a bit of a fail rating, but having looked now at the manufacturer site, rather than it being a next gen cushion idea, it’s far more about portability and keeping contaminants out of your foundation.

You click the button and that releases a single dose of Double Wear foundation; crucially, it doesn’t allow air into the reservoir of product underneath while it does this, hence the contamination elimination. However, you do have to rely on a careful swipe of the included (and flimsy) sponge in order not to be mopping up the product from all over the place. I expect that’s something that comes with practice. Despite the fact that your product remains bacteria free, unless you’re washing your sponge every day, the sponge will harbour all the things that the airless packaging eliminates.

Double Wear is an awesome foundation, that’s not in question, and if you like to be able to carry your make-up about then the Estee Lauder Liquid Compact is certainly portable with no fear of spillage. I do like this for forward thinking innovation, but there are still some issues to be ironed out. If you like novelty, you’ll love this. Just as a point, Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, 30ml is £33 – the Estee Lauder Liquid Compact is £33 for 12ml when it launches in October. Just saying.

  1. Hi Jane
I think they look similar to this compact:

I did a post on Cailyn last week as they seem to be launching some pretty fun and innovative products:

  3. Love the look of this – hope they’re planning on a launch in South Africa soon! I like the contamination elimination factor – very clever!

  4. Much as I like the idea of the hygenic packaging, the fact of it being the same price for less than half as much foundation is completely ridiculous.

Like the elimination factor of contamination, but who thought adding a sponge to this a good idea?(for the reasons you mention in your post)

  6. This is a great idea, but the cost is way too much considering the amount of product included.

  7. This looks amazing and I love all things Estee Lauder. xx

This is a great idea, but wondering if the packaging is refillable? I would love to buy this for my wedding day as I’m planning to wear double wear on the day. But as you said, is it worth the price?

    1. Jane

I don’t think it’s refillable. Congratulations by the way :-))

I don’t understand what benefits this would give in terms of limiting contamination over an airtight pump? Surely that would be the same….maybe I’m just not getting it!

    1. Jane

No, there isn’t any difference.. but airless foundation pumps are hard to find x
