Essence Advent Calendar

I love Essence for its price points and quality – with nails especially. It’s just one of those brands that provides beauty trends at an affordable level although it’s heavily pointed towards teens which makes no sense at all. In beauty, there’s an assumption that as you get older, your wallet gets heavier and that’s really not the case for many. Aside from Makeup Revolution who have an age inclusive attitude and following, and Superdrug’s Optimum skin care range, I can’t think of many brands that don’t make the assumption that older is richer. So, I think you have to bypass the youth element with Essence to discover it.

This year is truly the biggest year for beauty advent calenders; it’s more like who doesn’t have a calender! But the Essence offering is certainly one to look out for at £24. If you do the maths on that one, it’s really such a bargain, with 24 windows.

It’s launching on-line and in store at Wilko HERE in November.

I so agree re brands assuming older means wealthier, oh and that we have endless amounts of time to pamper ourselves – I wish re both! Older from my point of view just means making more sensible choices, especially when it comes to make-up eg I’m not loyal to any one brand, and when I look at the drawers full of half used ie wasted products I have – now I just want to have less, but things that work for me I will actually use/ finish – so if I can get the quality I want in a cheaper brand then even better! Currently obsessed by the Kiko Intensely Lavish lipsticks (shades 01 and 02) in their beautiful rose gold metal tubes with that oh so satisfying magnetic click shut at less than £7!

  2. What about a BBB Calendar? Go on Jane. I’d buy it!

  3. Oooh, that looks good, I bet there some amazing products in there! I’m still not sure I’d pay that much for an advent calendar, but I’m more tempted by this one than any others I’ve seen! Thank you 😀 x

Hopefully it’ll be available here in Switzerland too as Essence is one of the few cosmetic brands I can afford here as everything is far too expensive!

I just saw it in the store and wasn’t sure if I’m really like all of the products. It would be great if you would open all of the windows and show us what’s inside but that would take the mystery away…
