Espa Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I must admit, I didn’t even know Espa existed any more – it’s one of those brands that was always in every magazine and Sunday supplement about a decade ago. The brand was founded in 1992 by industry veteran, Sue Harmsworth, and always had the sophisticated air of a heritage brand. Espa was sold to the Hut Group in 2017 which explains why it fell off the radar because nobody kills a brand as well as Hut. If you ever wondered what happened to Illamasqua, Cristophe Robin hair care and Perricone – all Hutted. They still exist but to what end, nobody knows.

Anyway, it seems that they’re back on the map and if I’m going to have a re-introduction to a product, Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet is a very good place to start. It smells gorgeously citrussy and fresh – a real perk-up if you are a morning cleanse kind of a person. The texture is somewhere between a balm and an oil – gloopily unctuous and instantly at home on the skin.

Because it’s such a tactile texture, a bit of extra skin massage is inevitable – the smell, the feel – and I have a soft spot for cleansers that actually bring a presence and sensation to the cleansing process. If you don’t want to rinse it off, it’s a winner. I’d suggest that you apply to bare or barely damp skin because the addition of water gives it a lightly foaming, milky effect which to me at least, is less enticing than the initial application. One of the ingredients which doesn’t headline in the title is mango which is lightly enzymatic and one of the reasons that your skin will feel softer after using the balm.

There’s plenty of skin compatible ingredients in this balm – an omega complex, the aforementioned mango, yuzu, ginger with almond, sea buckthorn, pomegranate and moringa oils. If your skin feels tight, dry or just in general need of replenishment, Espa Yuzu & Ginger Cleansing Sorbet is a good place to start. If I have one complaint it’s that the box makes the product look huge and generous when really, it’s a folded flannel taking up the other half of the space. It’s £40 HERE or £20 at Brand Alley HERE but I think you need to sign up to become a member to buy. I get most of my cashmere on Brand Alley so it could be well worth it HERE.
