Somewhat predictably, the Dolce & Gabbana Christmas Collection is all about gold – it’s called The Essence Of Holiday. But, although there is a myriad of gold beauty products to choose from other brands all heading into party season with gold offerings, there are a couple in this collection that are rather special.
Dolce & Gabbana Christmas CollectionFirst up, the two Perfect Mono shades – Pearl Dust and Antique Gold. Gold shades can go a little too yellow (as has happened with the lipstick) but these are gentle and flattering with a slightly moussy texture and glimmering pay off. I will warn you though that you only get that central core – clever illusion tricks with the packaging makes you think you get more. But then, how much gold do you actually need! I’d wear Pearl Dust with black khol in a wink.
Dolce & Gabbana Christmas CollectionI genuinely loathe this gold lipstick! It’s got yellowy bronze elements to it with ultra-shimmers and I have no suggestions at all to make it wearable without looking like you got accidentally punched by tinsel. However, the red (Dora) is another story altogether – pink toned, it’s the kind of show stopping delight that puts all eyes on you – a kind of deep dive into a glorious crimson.
Dolce & Gabbana Christmas CollectionI love the nail shades, too. The first, Glow Light, is a shimmery white gold and the second shade is Dora (the same as the lipstick). There is a third colour, Antique Gold, but Glow Light is my personal preference.
Dolce & Gabbana Christmas CollectionI’d love to find some low key nail art that means I can wear both these colours together.
Dolce & Gabbana Christmas CollectionFinally, the Sheer Shine Gloss in Pearl Shine – definitely one for your party clutch to add a sheer wash of twinkling glimmer over your lips. You can wear it alone or over any other shade, depending upon how you want your look. I think the sheerness of the gloss makes sparkle wearable – unlike the lipstick there’s a decent dispersal so there is no metal mush look. If I was buying anything from the collection it would be this… beautifully glamorous, festive and pretty as well.
In the swatch, from bottom to top: Pearl Shine Gloss (£23.50), Gold Lipstick (£23.50 but not yet listed), Dora Lipstick (£23.50), Antique Gold Mono (£25) and Pearl Dust (£23.50).
All from Harrods.

This is such a beautiful collection!
Jane,
This post is an example of why I read your blog posts every day. You say what you think about the products. Many beauty bloggers say nothing negative about the products they are reviewing. But we know that’s impossible. So their posts are utterly useless. They don’t help me decide where to spend my money. I’ve unsubrscribed from the “perpetually positive” beauty bloggers.
The ‘Dora’ shade of lipstick and nail polish looks absolutely gorgeous! I don’t see a purpose for the gold lipstick either, could possibly use it as a cream eyeshadow depending on the consistency? A bit of a useless and random product though, if you ask me! Really appreciate your honesty when it comes to reviews, it gives you and your posts great credibility! Thanks for sharing, Jane! xx
