[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] On the plus, it looks as though holidays might be on the cards. On the minus, it’s raining. Ideally, you need to see the new Dior Summer Dune Collection on a hot and sunny day because it’s inspired by sun and shifting sands, capturing that strange heat waviness that looks so impossibly sweltering when you’re abroad but when it’s here, the Daily Mail brings out the ‘fry your eggs on your car bonnet’ story again.

Dior Summer Dune Collection

Dunes are a theme that Dior comes back to time and time again and yet, it never really gets old because we always like to be reminded of beaches when summer looms.

The shades in the Summer Dune 5 Couleurs Palette are all in the sunset category – they’re burnished and luminous and make lids and eyes seem brighter. These earthy-oranges are so easy to wear and there is no tone that they don’t look good on but if you have blue eyes you are particularly blessed because these are shades that intensify your irises.

Hasard has a brickish tone to it so it’s not quite a true red but Mirage is the full-on orange that toes have been waiting for. On first sight, I didn’t really like Dune but the more I look the more I am falling for it’s blend of pink and creamy brown that feels very elegant. I’m not sure these are new but they’re shown as part of the look.

The Dior Forever Natural Bronze (here in Warm Bronze but with 8 shades available) is the ‘collector piece’ because of the cushioned cannage exterior in a light buff colour. I didn’t know that Dior bronzers (which are 96% mineral content) is infused with wild pansy extract which is anti-inflammatory. It’s very lightly scented with a gentle floral aroma that gives opening the compact an extra pleasure. I wondered about Duty Free palettes looking at this compact, because the airport is where you an often find items that are only airside and not available in general retail. I checked the World Duty Free website and while there are some exclusives they’re not really up to date (the Christmas palette is still available) and nothing summery.

So, I think  you get an idea of the luminosity of the shades in the Summer Dune eye palette – they’re quite gentle colours which feels right since I don’t think we’re ready for the big brights yet and you can add more intensity with brown or black kohl. The Bronzer is £40, the Eye Palette is £50 and the Nail Polish is £22. You can find them HERE, non-affiliate HERE.
