[unpaid/purchase] Dcypher Custom Blend Foundation is a great find – there was a £10 offer for a small 10ml bottle on Instagram and despite my absolute rule of not buying anything with my phone, I caved and snapped it up. It was a time limited offer that’s not available now but I feel sure it will come again. Of the custom foundations I’ve tried, it’s got the easiest tone matching – just three photos – and from there you can choose coverage and finish.
Within a few days of submitting my pictures, my foundation arrived with a card telling me my skin tone ID and where my tone and undertone lie.
Weirdly, and my mistake I am sure (not sure), the blend is Matte for Oily & Combination Skin – which, obviously, I don’t have. What I thought I asked for was Ultra Sheer for Normal Skin. Nonetheless, this is very wearable – it’s not completely matte – there is definitely a bit of radiance – and the tone match is 100% perfect. That’s the revelation here – that three quick pictures created such an ideal tone for me.
I’ve taken this on portrait mode which is the ‘flattering’ mode on my phone but only because it shows the tone match better on this occasion. I can’t say I’m not slightly pleased because I had only just got up when I took this and do not have a stitch of make up on! For 30ml the Dcypher Custom Foundation is £28 which feels very reasonable to me if you can get the absolute match you need – lord, do you remember the absolute faff of getting a department store match? The strip lights, the upsell – the cost even of getting there in the first place. Anyway, Dcypher is really very impressive indeed – I honestly can’t tell this formula apart from my luxury foundations. The ultra sheer finish is ideal for mid-life skin that no longer likes strong coverage – the formula is flexible on the skin, allows the light to bounce and holds in moisture with glycerine. It contains silicones so if you’re not okay with those, it isn’t for you but otherwise, you can find it HERE.
