[unpaid/sample] Okay, I will fully admit that I wasn’t expecting homewares when the latest Crabtree & Evelyn box arrived. I know I’d replied to the email asking if I’d like to see it but clearly had only skim read because I was convinced I’d see bath and body. But here we are – a lovely surprise to have something a bit different to show you.
I can’t say I’m any expert on Greek ceramics but don’t these look heavenly? Just add a mint or parsley plant to the herb pot and a few succulent olives to the smaller dish and you could very much be at a shore side taverna in the sunshine. The ceramics are made in Athens and in the case of this little dish, amount to 100% of the profits going to a Greek cancer charity. In fact, 10% from everything in the collection is donated to Pnoi Agapis.
Aside from ceramics, there’s a culinary element to the collection with some small batch olive oil and a beautiful pestle and mortar. I can’t remember the last time I ground a herb but suddenly feel quite keen to do so! I think the tray and the herb pot are my favourite things although I’m intrigued about which way around to wear the ring – pointy side forward or pointy side backwards?
I love this new direction for Crabtree & Evelyn – it’s taken a while for the ‘new’ version to get into its stride but specific homewares suddenly feel exactly right and capture a moment of Greece that’s very welcome. We went to Cos a few years ago and truly loved it – everything about it lived up to the sunshine, whitewash and cobbles that we’d hoped for and I really get that vibe from these pieces. In fact, the brand describes the Greek Collection as souvenirs you’d actually want, and they’re right. So, amongst the ceramics and the foodie bits there are also towels and wraps – really simple, elegant and restrained much like what you are seeing here. This lifestyle collection is a precursor to a beauty collection and I’m very keen to see it. Prices start at £16.50 for the trinket bowl HERE, – oh actually, the sustainably sourced sea sponge is £12.50 I think. Non affiliate is HERE.
