Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray

Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray

Setting sprays that don’t dry out your skin are the handiest of things if you know your skin doesn’t keep make up for a full day. I have no idea how some days you can be as immaculate as when you began by the end and other days it looks like you didn’t even begin with any makeup at all! Where is this curious make up black hole that pigments disappear into? What I do know is that setting sprays will help.

In practical terms, the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray has an ultra-fine spray so it’s a dream to mist with (shake it up well though) and dries very quickly without making your complexion feel dry. There’s no stickiness or oiliness at all and no real scent that I can determine. It’s also alcohol free, although it does contain dimethicone as a flag for those who don’t like silicones. Weirdly, this product doesn’t claim any SPF although it does have titanium dioxide listed.

As for the illumination – I could see a ‘sheen’ across my cheek bones that wasn’t there before but it’s not going to day-glo your face. It’s highly subtle (although I have to say I have a very grey day here and it would be much easier to test with a ray or two to flag any luminosity), but there – just. I think this is one for those who love the ritual and perfecting of a base to minute detail. If that’s you, it’s launching in a few day’s time at SpaceNK.

  1. Quick drying without the feeling of dryness is so, so key to a good setting spray and this sounds like the real deal. I agree, it is a ritual that has quite strong bonds for myself because you’ve created these beautiful shapes and contours on the face, so why wouldn’t you want to preserve them? I get nervous if I don’t have a setting spray nowadays, and hate to think that a year ago I wasn’t using it on a regular basis.

  2. I am fairly new to the world of makeup setting sprays, but alcohol free does sound good. I don’t mind silicones in my makeup, so that would not bother me.
