Cosmoprof Day 1

Okay, the first thing to say about Cosmoprof is that it is huge. It’s even bigger than I imagined. I’ve met my fellow bloggers, Megan and Clio, who are both absolutely lovely (whew). Clio is something of a superstar in Italy and we are quite literally stopped every few minutes with people recognising her and wanting to chat or have their photo taken with her. She is absolutely sweet and friendly to everyone. In fact, there are several Italian bloggers here and they have been so friendly and welcoming.

I concentrated on the hair halls today – we’d hoped to get to nails but it didn’t quite happen; we just ran out of time. However, when I arrived in time for lunch, who did I end up sitting next to? Deborah Lippmann! And I am wearing Glitter In The Air!

Deborah Lippmann

I can’t say I saw anything truly amazing hairwise, but then hair isn’t my main interest. There were lots of brands that are salon only, but a couple I was drawn to because of their packaging are Amika, whose USP is Obliphica or Sea Buckthorn, found only in the Himalayas and is able to protect itself from the obvious harsh conditions. I love the way they’ve made the packaging really speak with bright colours and beautiful designs.

We also stopped by at the Milkshake stand. I’ve already spotted this brand on sale on one of the bigger beauty websites in the UK and have wanted to try it for ages. The SA showed us a fabulous body mousse (it’s a hair and body range) that squirts out of the can exactly like whipped cream and smells of creme caramel. Lovely! I’ll post more about this range in the next few weeks because everything I’ve seen so far is impressive.

We also came across this sweet idea from Taiwanese brand called O’Right that uses ethical and green principles as a USP. All the packaging materials are biodegradable, and the picture below shows a shampoo bottle that has a seed impregnated within the packaging so when you’re done with product, you can just bury your bottle and a tree will grow where you buried it – ahem, in theory!

Wash and Grow
And everywhere you go there is hair!

We did manage to spot the gorgeous Paperself lashes, with a couple of new designs…My ego was stroked because the owner remembered seeing a blog post on BBB about his lashes, and he very kindly gave me a set to try at home.

Finally, I can’t not show the Davines stand – hundreds of hydrangeas (I might be wrong about that – botany not a top BBB subject) that looked amazing.

More tomorrow when we hit the nail halls…

  7. OMG I just died when I saw this post in my RSS reader. I can’t wait to here your every thought and find.

I have wanted to go to Cosmoprof for many years and I have finally taken the plunge and booked to go to the North America one. I am very nervous but even just reading this one post from you has gone a long way to easing my nerves.

I would love to know any tips or hints you have for attending such an event. I am from Australia and we have NOTHING on this scale.

Sea Buckthorn is not found only in the Himalayas – it grows in many places in Europe, including Northern Germany (where it is called Sanddorn) and Scandinavia…still, the Amika packaging is pretty.
