Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF30 Hydrating Colour Corrector

So, here’s a look at the newest launch coming up from Clinique – a CC Cream. I have to admit I’ve got rather confused on the whole CC cream front.. some say it has more coverage than BB, some say it has less. This one, Clinique is happy to say is less. But, as the initials might suggest, colour correction is at the core and it is very much a skin care product first and foremost, before it is a make-up product.

Clinique Optical Corrector

I have to say that I have more faith in this CC than any other I have seen so far, partly thanks to the little pot of powder above. It’s a lavender optic powder; lavender apparently being the optimum suit-all corrector. You can’t even see that it is lavender – to the naked eye it looks white, so while it doesn’t give any visible colour, it does refract light and neutralise any redness or tone variations. It seems to work, too.

As you see above, white powder.

You can just see a tinge of violet.

And under flash, you get a very good look at what happens when light hits it as a raw ingredient. The same shade will counteract ashyness or grey tones on black skin. There are six shades coming so pretty well all skin tones are catered for. Added to that, there is a good whack of hyaluronic acid which is basically skin’s best friend and although I haven’t put it to the test on my face yet, it’s moved to the priority try-me-now pile!

It launches on 26th April for £28.

  1. The optical powder seems really interesting – I’d never heard of it before!

  2. Ah – didn’t know that Clarins was doing CC too! Thanks for sharing. Is their colour correcting optical powder just exactly the same as an old school colour corrector eg T.LeClerc powder or does it do more do you think? Great that brands are introducing colour correnting tech into the forefront of their offering but from what I can tell it isn’t really new news on the product innovation front. I may well be wrong!! http://www.fabtips.co.uk/2013/01/cc-creams-worth-the-hype/

  3. Is the CC cream coming out in the states? I can’t wait to check it out!
