The spring Clarins collection is one of the most reliable on the beauty calendar. Year in, year out we get trio sets with gorgeous illustrations and even lovelier fragrances. I have to say that (part of) this is my favourite yet. So, there’s a hand cream trio (£25) that’s bursting with shea butter and truly nourishing for hands and nails, and there’s a body lotion trio too (£30) and I can’t knock Clarins body creams. They do exactly what you’d hope they will in terms of making skin feel soft and supple with shea, oat extract and olive oil extracts. They’re aimed at luxury and fit that bill.
The fragrances are Neroli, Magnolia and Jasmine and I have to say the Jasmine in particular is addictive! I have the hand cream by my laptop and keep stopping to smell it all over again. Neroli is vibrant and citrussy and while Magnolia isn’t not nice, it’s not my favourite because it just a little bit generic. But Jasmine is smooth and powerful on application but doesn’t overkill on longevity. You get a satisfactory blast initially that then fades down so it’s not wearing you or clashing with your fragrance.
There are two highlighting products alongside the hand and body collection with similar charming illustrations that are less about the high beam and more about the subtle. In particular, the Natural Light Perfector for Lips (£18) is a blend of gold pearl in a pale pink tint and is gorgeous. I like the little Catch’Light Face Stick (£19) for a quick illumination on the go but feel it’s very much a summer or holiday product to quickly get those shins and shoulders gleaming.
I’d 100% recommend the hand and body creams – obviously they’ve got Mother’s Day as their main target here, but if you need a treat to self, do it! I wish they’d do little candles in these sets – I think I’d rather have 2 body or hand and one candle, particularly as the scents are so beautiful. They haven’t quite launched on-line yet but keep an eye out!
