It’s got to be said that the Cindy Sherman/MAC collaboration is very true to the famous American photographer’s style. At first, I thought the collection was ridiculous, but actually, the promo pics are so representative of her that really it is rather clever. Whatever you think of the promos, Sherman is revered in the world of art and photography for relentlessly hard-to-like but make-you-look pictures with a wider message about women in society. Cindy has created three collections for MAC, one of which takes inspiration from plastic surgery – see, I told you! I’m warming…but slowly and am more excited about this than the Gareth Pugh for MAC collection coming in November. Although it seems an easier stretch to translate fashion to beauty than art to beauty, I’d say that the Cindy Sherman range disproves that because it does stop you in your tracks.
