CHANEL Chance Hand Cream Set

[unpaid/sample] When the ‘fresh’ fragrance versions come rolling in it’s a sure sign winter is on its way out. I know we have a little while to go before spring sets in but every day we are closer :-). CHANEL Chance first appeared in 2002 – it doesn’t seem so long ago because it always has an air of ‘new’. However, what I’m most excited about is this delightful set of three hand creams. Each cream is 20ml so it’s not quite a mini set – let’s say a handbag size set with each hand cream having fragrance variation of Chance.

The pink tube is Chance, the pistachio tube is Eau Fraiche and the cream tube is Eau Tendre so you can experience all the variants.

As a reminder, or if you don’t know Chance, Eau Fraiche has amplified citron, Eau Tendre leads with jasmine and Chance is more of a spicy floral. CHANEL hand cream formulas are good – I keep one by my bed although I only remember to use it now and then – notable for being non-greasy and very quickly absorbed. In fact, after the initial fragrance rush, you forget that you have anything on your hands at all. The formula is a blend of glycerin, jojoba esters, rosa centifolia, iris and licorice root and panthenol (amongst others) so you’re getting a proper wallop of hydration and protection.

The set is £65 and I’m linking to John Lewis HERE where it is in stock.

CHANEL Chance Eau Fraiche

CHANEL Chance Eau Fraiche has been reworked for 2024 by Olivier Polge to be a more intense version of the original Eau Fraiche that loses none of the ‘fresh’ yet appears deeper and more bold than the original. That certainly rings true – I’ve been wearing it over the weekend and there is indeed a fresh, sweet trail but the jasmine and teak notes give it warmth and depth.

I don’t know if my nose is just conditioned to smell the iconic powdery notes but I definitely pick them up here in a veil rather than a full presence. I mean, how hard must it be to make a fragrance just fractionally different from the original – different enough that enthusiasts can pick it up but not so different it distracts from the origins? I’ve never really thought about it before but now can’t imagine how immersed Olivier Polge must be in minute note variations. I guess that’s why he gets the big bucks! If you fancy an early spring in your step, Chance Eau Fraiche is £99 for 50ml HERE.
