This is definitely a winning spring 2014 collection from Burberry – I get the feeling they’ve shaken things up a bit and are using a lot more colour, although they’ve kept it on brand in a muted way. Brands who bring out make-up ‘looks’ create no end of confusion because it’s so hard to tell what’s part of a look and what’s new product, so I’ve focussed here on the new products rather than the look. I don’t have the full collection to swatch; just one or two key pieces.
Above is the new Complete Eye Palette in Sage Green (there’s also a new pink palette, Rose Pink). I really thought I wouldn’t like this but fast forwarding myself to the green grass and daffodils of spring, I can’t wait to wear it (with a baby pink nail probably).
It’s quite low key until you get the shot of vibrant golden green – I’ve been wracking my beauty brains and can’t think I’ve ever seen another colour exactly the same, with infusions of gold in such a bright green.
I’m also instantly obsessing about the new Burberry Lips Lip Glow in Lavender (above and in top picture). I don’t have it here but it looks like a clear gloss infused with a hint of purple for a barely there tint on the lip.
As far as nails go, there’s plenty that’s new. Above are Pale Grape (a grey purple) and Pale Yellow (sorry, hate it) both dirtied up a little – more Farrow & Ball than fresh and fun. Along with those two new additions are Rose Pink, Dusky Mauve and Sage Green (in collage pic above).
I like the way Burberry have made the English Rose look relevant for all skin tones; muted tones can be hard to wear on darker skin but this collection proves that it can be done beautifully. It’s all out now HERE.
