[unpaid/sample] I was really pleased to receive a nail care pen – I’m constantly battling with my nails which, despite being much improved with OPI Repair Mode still need a lot of attention. However, I’m wearing nail polish again and my nails are tolerating that quite well. I don’t know the Bold & Grit brand at all but a little internet research shows that it’s from the founder of serum based brand Elan Skincare, Joanna Silva.
Nail care pens are a good category to fill – they’re familiar but when you look at the options, it’s an underfilled space compared to other beauty areas. It’s pointed at those who have acrylic nails in particular, although not exclusively, to bring nails back to life between treatments. However, the use of all the right nail friendly ingredients, such as vitamins A, C and E but the power player for the Bold & Grit SOS Nail Care Pen is Mastic gum. Mastic oil is a resin whose components can stimulate the power of keratin so it’s a perfect ingredient for strengthening and thickening nails.
I don’t quite ‘get’ the website, I must admit. I always want to see the founder’s story to give the product life and context but had to find out that information for myself. The fact that it comes from a noted skin care brand gives it more authority so I’m not sure why that information isn’t readily available. The Bold & Grit SOS Nail Care Pen isn’t expensive at £13.99 HERE – I’m going to start using it straight away on my toes in an unusually organized plan to not scream when the socks come off in spring.
