Avon Mega Effects Mascara

Okay, so I have to put my hands up and confess to being so cynical about this before I’d tried it. It is, in fact, brilliant.

Avon Mascara Open

It is so easy to use and it coats the lashes like a dream (I’ve even jeopardised my extensions to trial this properly). Don’t forget, there are lots of women who struggle with mascara application – a reader even pointed out that she has fine motor skill difficulties and hoped it would make application easier (it’s hard for me to tell whether it would or it wouldn’t to be honest) and this just does redefine application.

You can see each and every lash coat.. if you’ve ever swatched a mascara on your hand you never get this individual effect.. more, a smudgy blur. The mascara is nice and glossy, too, in deepest black.

I’m a convert and it’s a massive BBB Recommends from me. It’s £10 and launches on 12th September.

  1. I read a not-so-positive review on this as well, it’s definitely unique!

This contraption looks so scary! Haha, but I’d definitely give it a go, I’m too curious!

  3. This looks very strange but it is worth a try! I’ll be getting mine as soon as it launches I think

  6. I had my doubts when I first saw it but if your happy with it, I may just give it a try.

The only thing I have reservations with is that it isn’t waterproof… but novelty factor very high for me.

  7. It would be nice to see the mascara on the eyelashes. On your hand there is no point of swatching.

Think this is a great review and Hannah if you don’t have anything nice to say maybe don’t say anything! It’s hardly a shit review just because it doesn’t meet your specific requirements of what should be in a review!

  9. Hannah

Really?? no picture of what the mascara looks on the lashes? shit review!

    1. Jane Cunningham

Okay Hannah, there’s this really useful thing and it’s called G O O G L E. All you have to do is go to that place and tell it what you want to see. It’s amazing and you’ll find lots of reviews with pictures! Have a super weekend.

    2. I wouldn’t go as far to say it is shit, I enjoyed reading about the product and getting the information, but I was sad to see there were no pictures on the eyes xo

Daisy, there aren’t any pictures of me wearing product on my blog and there haven’t been for the entire five years I’ve been doing it. It’s a peculiarity of my blog.. just doing it my way if you like.. and there are lots of blogs where you can see swatches but maybe not get as much first news or early information. So, I think that’s why lots of readers read all kinds of blogs because no single one caters for everyone in exactly the right way, but hopefully you get what you need from a good combination. x

        1. I completely agree with what you have said. When I am shopping for a product I look at a few blog reviews first rather than just the one so I can get a few peoples opinions. I haven’t been a blogger that long (less than a year) and didn’t realise about the pictures, but now you mention it, I haven’t noticed any pictures of you wearing the product, but that certainly doesn’t mean your posts are shit. xo

Thanks Daisy.. comments are always really appreciated especially when they’re so thoughtfully written. Sam at Pixiwoos has done a tutorial on it so you can really see how it works and Really Ree has pictures on her blog, too. xx

We shouldn’t have to see what Jane looks like in something, we need to see it described and swatched and then decide what it might look like on ourselves not on Jane.
Anyway, here is a new take. Am 67 and never used any make up apart from foundation and blush. Never learnt from my mum I guess! But, would like to experiment really – I don’t have ANY motor skills and a shaky hand (not age related!) and would love to try mascara. So this might be a way in – not long till Sept!
