When I visited the Avene (the place of the very more-ish water) Hydrotherapy centre in France where hundreds visit every year in hope of curing their skin conditions, I came away with a bucket load of Avene Tolerance Extreme for my friend with super-sensitive skin. She’s been using it day and night since I gave it to her, and I have to report that her skin has never been better. Her skin type wouldn’t even tolerate the lightest of moisturisers without reacting by flaking and turning red and dry. We tried organic moisturisers, sensitive skin moisturisers, balms and even excema emollients, all to pretty well no avail. She’s had success in the past with the La Roche Posay sensitive skin range – another thermal water infused brand – so we had high hopes for Avene. Sure enough, after a few of days of use, her skin turned from patchy, dry and uncomfortable to completely smooth. The first couple of days, she did experience some stinging when she applied the cream but that disappeared quite quickly. I would out and out recommend this for super-sensitive skin types to put back the moisture and comfort and to generally get skin back into a manageable condition. Find it at Boots, about £13.

I did post about Avene Anti-Redness Light Moisturising Lotion last month. Their skincare really does make a difference to my redness prone irritated skin.
