[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] So, this was a great surprise. I put off reviewing Aesop Karst Fragrance because it doesn’t look all that exciting but got around to it earlier this week and well, in short, it’s gorgeous!
It’s a citrus scent that initially I got Christmas vibes from – that sort of aromatic spark of the season which soon dried away to something quite spicy and interesting. Juniper is the real kicker here – it pushes the bergamot and pink pepper up a notch with rosemary, sage and cumin playing around with your senses. Is it foodie? Not quite, but there are cuisine herbal references that pop up. Sage is a difficult note to work with because it’s so associated in our brains with chicken – nobody wants to smell like Paxo – but in this instance it’s very smooth and integrates perfectly.
Base notes are vetiver, sandalwood and cedar – the cedar comes through rather strongly in the dry down but the entire thing starts festive, goes herby, journeys into fruity and ends on woody. I mean, I find it quite intriguing! If you’re someone for whom traditional ‘feminine’ fragrances do nothing for a but you don’t want to be entirely ‘masculine’, this is very well worth your attention. It’s £140 which I think is very steep but fragrance is a category that seems to defy the bank balance sometimes! You can find it HERE.
