Since we’re all so obsessed with the double cleanse (me too!) it’s interesting to see a variation on the theme. The Erno Laszlo Cleansing Oil Collection is launching into Harrods from September (and also Net-a-Porter and Lookfantastic) and they’re designed to be used as a two step system using the cleansing oil first and following on with the soap.

As you can see, there is an oil (and a soap) for all skin types. Detoxifying (black) is for oily skin that needs detoxing and should be used with the Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar. This combination is the most gratifying in terms of experience – both products are black which rather goes against the cleansing grain but there’s something very satisfying about this! Hydra-Therapy Cleansing Oil should be used with the Phelityl Cleansing Bar – both designed to lock in hydration although they’re good at oil absorption, so if you’re in that tricky category that needs oil control and moisture, this is for you. Firmarine Cleansing Oil should be used with Firmarine Cleansing Bar – they’re both boosted with Spirulina and is for skin that needs smoothing. Finally, the Sensitive Oil goes with the Sensitive Bar – chamomile and green tea combined with Andiroba and Moringa oils ensure cleasning with no tautness afterwards.

Better still, the Erno Laszlo Cleansing Oil Collection will be available in travel sizes for £24 for a small size two step – I think this is a great idea to get a feel for whether this is a routine for you – the full sizes are expensive at £30 for each Cleansing Bar and £50 for the oils. I’ll flag these up when they launch, but in the meantime will be putting them to the test – I love the idea of an oil then a soap for some reason.
