Deborah Lippmann Autumn 2017

I’m welcoming the autumn nail shades landing on my desk with open arms right now. For once, I’m pleased to see the back of summer and really looking forward to autumn although I can be pretty certain that at a certain point I will start complaining about it! I’m a summer person but this summer was horrible one way and another and I’m just pleased its gone. Much as I love the vibrant shades of summer, I greatly prefer the autumnal ones as a personal palette – these dark purples, glimmering blacks and wine reds: I want to wear all of them (with black skinny jeans obvs).

I’m missing one shade, Sweet Emotion, which is an ashes-of-roses shade. Deborah always names her polishes after songs – in fact, her career began as a singer and she became a manicurist as a side-line – and the Star Power collection is no different. In the top picture it’s (L to R) : Black Magic Woman, Purple Haze and Venus In Furs. The second picture is Higher Ground and Wow.

In the swatch above (L to R): Higher Ground (this is a weird grey with a slightly green cast), Black Magic Woman (multi shade shimmer in a deep grey), Purple Haze, Venus In Furs and Wow. Wow is the only one that’s fully metallic and it’s not that impressive really – just an average silver metal polish, easily replicated with a less pricey brand. But, Black Magic Woman? Get on my nails now!

They’re launching any day now – Selfridges and Feel Unique keep a good stock of the Deborah Lippmann brand, but it’s not that easy to get hold of. The quality is always good from Deborah Lippmann, and she usually does a few mini sets seasonally so if you don’t know the range you might be better with one of those. A couple of my past favourites were Lady In Red and Bed of Roses (£28) HERE.
