I’ve already made my feelings clear about the airbrushing on the promo pictures for the MAC Brooke Shields range (HERE), so I won’t bang on about it now. Actually, it’s a very extensive range but I’ve only got a couple of items to show you so far – lucky then that one of them is the lipstick of my dreams!
Excite Bright is an orange toned red in a cremesheen finish – it’s not so red that the scarlet fearful like me need to shy away and it’s not so orange that it will make your teeth yellow. Excite Bright is just about the perfect in-between colour. Better yet, one slick gives a gentle shade, two slicks ramp it up for a stronger lip.
Excite Bright is definitely the product from the MAC Brooke Shields range that’s exactly right for me and it’s £22.
Generally, I love the Veluxe Pearlfusion palettes – thin strips of colour sheen that I can actually see a hope of finishing one day. I’m in slightly tricky territory because this is marked on my sample as Day Look 1 – the range is divided into evening and day looks – which I know isn’t the correct name – we have a choice between Trusted Instinct or Mortal. What do you reckon? I can’t even stab a guess at that one! It’s £33.
However, I love the shades – universally flattering, sheeny without being madly glittery, and you don’t need Brooke power brows to work this palette! The Brooke Shields MAC range is really big – their biggest Icon range yet – and it’s limited edition. The product to look out for is the Gravitas Eyeshadow Palette which is a whopping £70 for 15 shades and largely based around neutral and nude colours. I’d say go for Urban Decay Naked every single time over this one… it just seems so expensive for a product that’s not really doing anything over and above any of the fabulous nude palettes available.

Lovely products! I don’t like the packaging that much, but the products are gorgeous.
I agree about the promo photos. I had a MAC counter guy mention this collection to me and I laughed at him and told them flat out that I wasn’t interested in a collection with such a horrible promo. They made her look terrible, and you’re right, she looks fantastic the way she is!!!
I think £22 is a bit ridic for a lipstick when the rest of their range are £15. I’m glad it suits you and you like it but I think they are taking the michael personally.

I had to get the Gravitas palette – just because it was there. Whilst the rest of the range was a bit too expensive, the eyeshadow palette sort-of represented some value at £70 for 15 pans, when single eye shadows are £11. As the palette was about £50 in the US, I think it was a stellar bargain.
