Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation

I hate to be the one to use a tired old beauty term, but this IS a bit of magic in a bottle! Whenever a brand gives a name to their products that you think it cannot possibly live up to, I’m immediately on my guard, but in this case, soft and luminous are exactly right. I don’t think I could say Candleglow exactly, but I can see why that name is appropriate. Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation has already launched Stateside and I don’t have a launch date for the UK yet but if you’re on the hunt for an instantly perfecting, softer than soft, dewy looking foundation, I’d urge you to hang on for the UK launch of Candleglow.

Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation

It’s a medium to full coverage base containing radiant pearl mica, purified water and lightweight oils that literally let it glide over skin. Particularly with older skin, any dryness to a foundation can leach the life out of your complexion – this puts the life back, in my opinion. My skin absolutely loves it and *whispers* I think it’s better than the forthcoming Chanel foundation. In terms of radiance and luminosity – yes and yes, but in a gentle way. In fact, everything about the formula of Laura Mercier Candleglow Foundation is gentle and softening in both look and feel making it a perfect any-age base.

I have three shades in the unfiltered swatch above (I think you can see the luminosity element) going from bottom to top: Honey, Golden and Vanille. On Sephora there is an impressive line up of 24 shades, going from really light to really dark, but that’s not necessarily an indicator of what shades we will get in the UK. It’s $48 which I think would make it roughly £35 or so here.

I’ll keep you updated with a UK arrival date, but it’s a huge, huge recommend from me.

  1. I’m off to the US next week so I might have to seek this out. I was holding out for the Chanel foundation launch but no reason I can’t have both!

Is there any samples of this I can try.

  3. Jane, have you tried the Dr Perricone No Foundation Foundation because I would love a comparison before I buy that one! x

I have it Lisa, but I’m a bit nervous to try it as I have been allergic to Perricone in the past. But I will try to get to it next week. x

  4. This sounds amazing! Definitly will be checking this out when it arrives here 🙂 thanks for sharing! xx

There are so many foundations launching or have launched that i can’t even remember what the Chanel one is. I think the swatches of this Laura Mercier one looks pretty darn smooth; if it looks that good with a heavy swatch, it must look lovely on the face. I’m also pretty interested in Nars’ new velvet foundation.

Is it as good as Denssilis? Best foundation I have ever tried.

  8. Coverage & dewy finish & good on dry skin sounds like perfection. Can not wait! Some of my all time fave foundations are LM though I’ve been disappointed in the last two. High hopes for this!

To be honest i am glad to hear that it might be better than the Chanel one because i always end up buying chanel products all the time and i am not being impressed always with the exception of glosses and nail polishes! I am new to Laura Mercier and so far i have loved what i have tried! Thank you for sharing!

  11. Can’t wait for this to arrive, lots of people are raving about it – thanks

  12. Sabrina

Wow, this sounds amazing. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for its Continental arrival. 🙂

Love Laura Mercier products but do you recommend that I wait for the launch of this foundation or go with the Chanel Les Beiges which is also getting rave reviews??

    1. Jane

They are both brilliant and it’s very hard to split them apart – LM gives a bit more of a skin glow I think, but I think you’d be happy with either.

Any idea how it compares to the new Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow foundation that’s due at the end of January? I’ve read some great reviews about that one too! Thank you! X

  15. Wow! I’ve been looking for THE glow foundation and it looks like you’ve found it for me!
