Illamasqua Lip Lures

Thank goodness for blogger swatches! The new Illamasqua Lip Lures look very unassuming in their plain black packaging which doesn’t give any hint of what lies within. But, there is a treat in store if you love bold colours. My intital thought was that they would be mattes, but thankfully they’re not. Although the Illamasqua Lip Lures are billed as gloss, they’re more like satin lip paints.

As you can see, there is big colour density but the finish isn’t a lacquer – it’s much softer in gleam than that. The shades I have above are Bloom, a pink toned nude, Virtue, described as ‘box red’.. Alex Box, Pillar Box? and finally Orchid, a vampy purple. I’m intrigued to see Nebulous, a forest green, on somebody (not me!). There are ten shades in total launching on 15th June at www.illamasqua.com.

Just going back to the point of swatches – I can’t believe that we spent so many years just looking at tubes on a page in product reviews. When I wrote for one newspaper, very often there wasn’t even a photograph, just reams of descriptive words to try and convey a colour.
