The Dolce & Gabbana Sophia Loren No.1 Lipstick caused such a stir across Instagram over the weekend – it’s a D&G tribute to the lady herself. I’ve had a sneaky look at one of the ad campaign images in which Sophia is wearing this colour and it is the perfect shade for her.

Unless I’ve misunderstood the term ‘cherry red’ all of my life, I don’t know why the Dolce & Gabbana Sophia Loren No.1 Lipstick is being described as a red. To me, it’s all pink! A kind of understated, nude shot pink… is it just me?

Either way, it’s a sumptuous colour and certainly an every-age shade – I would wear this and so would my mum (in fact, I’m going to keep it for her because it really is her perfect hue) and it’s made to a shine formula which means it has sheen without gloss.

If you’re inclined, you can register to buy one (on dolcegabbanabeauty.com) in six days or hang on until it launches in Harrods on 21st September. If you are registering, you should check that you don’t end up on a mailing list you don’t want to be on – I haven’t completed the registration process so I don’t know what happens when you go all the way through. The Dolce & Gabbana Sophia Loren No.1 Lipstick is £31.

That is most definitely pink as opposed to red but it is still beautiful all the same.
I am a sucker for gorgeous packaging and this is selling it to me right now.

When and how did the price of lipsticks become so stupid?

    1. Maria

      Totally agree

  3. The registration is an invite to go and buy it at their Milan store! Yes I’ll be jetting over on the 21st lol

really?! um… that doesn’t seem very practical as a global concept!

  4. Maria

Def NOT cherry red but agree totally with neutral pink

  5. It looks magenta in the top photo and then old rose in the bottom photos. Is it just the one colour? Nice but pricey.

    1. Jane

      Yes, just one shade.

  6. wow…. that “colour” seems to be three different shades and i only love the first one, quite like the second and am a bit meh about the third. for the price, i think i do want to know what i am getting for sure, though….
