Dior Milky Dots Summer 2016

Dior’s Summer collection has made me smile. It’s just all the fun things that summer make up should be – vivacious, colourful and spirited. I know nail dotting isn’t exactly cutting edge, but when I tipped the Colour & Dots Manicures out I immediately wanted them on my nails. In fact, it’s tonight’s job. The colour ways you see above are Pastilles (pinks) and Confettis (oranges) but there is a third colourway, Plumetis, in a teal and beige that I could replicate with shades I already have.

Keep…love… cuddle… all those things – Dior Milky Kisses are a combination of what I like best in a gloss. A milky sheen is a cloudy element to colour; it knocks down brightness but lifts up smoothness and sheen, so when it’s in a semi-translucent form, your lips just look sexy. I don’t know why that is so, but a milky sheen just does that ‘thing’. When I first went to the USA I was transfixed by three things – how the women news presenters got their lipsticks the same shade as their lips (believe me, nude wasn’t a thing then), how you couldn’t tell that they were wearing bras under their T-shirts (and T-shirt bras did not exist in the UK – and no I didn’t go in the 19th century! It’s actually not so long ago) and how they got shiny, cloudy looking lips (nobody did a milky lip before Stila). So a milky gloss is a beauty thing I would happily dunk my head in.

The shades I have here are Milky Pure, Milky Pop and Milky Plum but there are six shades to choose from.

There are two 5 Couleurs Palettes in the Milky Dots theme (which I seem to be turning into wonky dots!). The first is Bain de Mer, above, with corals and turquoise as a main theme. It’s the kind of palette that I want to stare at endlessly, but wouldn’t be quite sure how to use on myself. Anything with that aquatic, swimming pool vibe and I’m in although they’re shades that I rarely physically wear.

If anything, this has made me want to try a coral lid again – but the blue? I don’t know.

This is Escapade – a bit less of a scare in fruity pastels and takes me scurrying back to my comfort zone!

There are a couple more items from the Dior Milky Dots Summer 2016 range that I’ll show you on Friday. If you pass products on a counter or open a palette and it physically makes you smile, it’s such a joy, and colour can give you emotion in the same way that fragrance can. I’m truly smiling at this collection – I’d recommend the Milky Gloss in a heartbeat for it’s sheen and cool comfort on the lip.

I don’t have prices or an exact launch date yet but I’ll flag it up when I do. The summer collections are just starting to roll in so brace yourselves for a colour burst!

  3. All the products are so yummy 🙂 Love how Milky Plum looks!

  4. Ooo the lipglosses sound lovely but I’m not a fan of the eyeshadow palettes – maybe it’s just me but I always think their palette packaging looks a bit cheap? I’m probably just too loyal to Urban Decay though haha xx
