Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick

Well, what a re-introduction to Bourjois! I haven’t featured this brand since it moved over to Coty (don’t ask) but I don’t have any other word for these other than sublime! They’re matte and quite simply the softest matte formula I’ve encountered – this kind of whisper-on-the-lips formulation is normally reserved for those very melty, only just solid, balm sticks and yet, the lipsticks are definitely matte. The Bourjois Rouge Velvets are shaped in the tear-drop like lip hugging tips and they properly glide! The colour lay down is exceptional. So, I’ll get straight to the swatches so you can see for yourself!

Bottom to top: Jolie Carmin’ois, Fuchsia Botte, Hey Nude, Rubi’s Cute, Abrico Dabrail and Flaming Rose. I should point out that the ‘crumbling’ that you see disappears on the lip – in a swatch you can’t go over and over without it looking awful and nor do you have the benefit of being able to do a lip mwah! It’s due to the softness of the formula.

Bottom to top: Brunette, Hyppink Chic, Hip Hip Pink, Berry Formidable, Bric A Brac and Magni-Fig.

If you like to do the lip blur trend, these blur up beautifully – I’m never sure whether that’s a look to be encouraged because everyone in the room needs to understand you’re doing the blurry-messy lip and it’s not just a case of too much wine and no mirror. The Bourjois Rouge Velvets are £8.99 each but on a 3 for 2 HERE (you can mix and match with Rimmel and Max Factor for that offer).
