I find it quite hard to get excited about colour correction pens – I’m just not that much of a perfectionist, don’t have any redness to speak of and just refuse to colour in my face before putting on the foundation on the grounds that I might look a bit sallow. So what? BUT, the bareMinerals Well Rested Colour Correction Trio is great!

The formula for these has a cool touch element so they feel instantly cooling on the skin which is a lovely sensation and unexpected. They’re also well pigmented and will do the job they’re supposed to to a certain point. Creamy, more liquid colour correctors I find are too skimpy on pigment and you blend most of the benefits away.  As a reminder, the peachy shade evens out darker marks.. so sun damage or under eye circles. The green corrects redness and the lilac shade brightens. I would only ever use these on small areas which makes the brightening element a bit pointless – who needs a brighter ‘bit’? The reason you can’t colour in your whole face is that the formula is too dry for larger areas… I’ve spread the lilac one all over one cheek and can feel that it’s dry (although it doesn’t LOOK dry), but in tiny areas round my nose, where I’ve used the green, and by my eyes where I’ve used peach in tiny patches I can feel nothing.

With lilac and green, the colour seems a bit much at first – I popped some foundation over the top and could still detect them but a few moments later, there was literally no sign at all. The peachy shade did okay under my eyes – definitely obliterated dark shadows but the payback was that it made under eye lines look worse. However, where it did really, really well was the bit between the inner eye corner and brow; sort of the side of the top of the nose – is there a technical term for that place?! It’s a place where I shadow and they’re gone.

If you have shadows, red or discoloured areas and you mind about them, then the bareMinerals Well Rested Colour Correction Trio does perform well. I just think the lilac is wasted. You can find the set or £34 as a QV C exclusive.
