3INA UV Collection

So, while UV make up isn’t completely new it’s certainly something that hasn’t been done very much at all – and when it works, it works spectacularly well. I love this new collection from 3INA and particularly the camo palette above that is just so visually exciting. I will have to say that trying to hold a torch and a camera in one hand while photographing your own arm is a challenge I haven’t come up against before! That’s my way of saying dodgy photo alert!

First up then, the nail polishes – three shades as seen above (the shades don’t have names… missed opportunity!). There is also a clear fluoro top coat that you an add to bare nails or any colour to give it a glow element. Don’t forget you need to be under UV lights for any of these to work with the UV, so while that’s great if you’re clubbing or festival-ing, they need to look good on their own as well.

I think that 3INA has used a little artistic license in their photography – I didn’t take my pictures in the dead of night under a UV but did manage to find a darkened corner. The eye creams above (you can use on cheeks as well) are very light when blended in – my swatches are unblended – and don’t really show all that much colour – they absolutely spring to life when a UV torch is shone on the them but they didn’t reach the dizzying neon that 3INA is showing in their pics.

I know.. so bad! But you get the idea.

The glosses certainly stand up on their own with no lights – they’re more the sort of shades that we associate with lip oil – sheer and light with a tint of colour.

These are before UV.

And these are with UV. I’ve also included a black liner in the swatch, which transforms to blue.

It’s the camo palette though – I love this! It goes bright pink on the skin.

Here’s what happens in the dark! I realise that I’d be able to give you the full effect much better if I was in the pitch black under proper UV lights and not using a torch in a low light corner of my kitchen. I guess I’d have to actually go to a club… I don’t think I’m that dedicated! Anyway, you can find the collection newly launched at Selfridges HERE. If you’re only picking one thing, I’d make the eye creme because you can put it anywhere – make flowers and so on – just a lot more versatile for fun and creative stuff. Just don’t pick your nose after you’ve applied…. unless you want glow-nostrils.
