Well, I’m not having the best week with reviews! The Molton Brown Coco & Sandalwood Candle is another fail – for being so lacking on fragrance. I’ve had this on the burn (the 3 wick version) for the best part of an hour and it’s very shy on scent. It looks the part, I must admit, with a beautiful, thick, shiny white glass with some frosting round the top edge. The fragrance, when I check the information on it, is supposed to be a blend of coconut, cinnamon and milk a the top, with jasmine, cedarwood and copahu in the middle, and sandalwood, guaiac wood and vetivert to complete at the bottom.
The most I’m getting from this is the slightly sooty smell of the wick. At £55, I would be gutted if I’d bought this to fragrance a room because, it only barely does. Usually, when you open a candle, you get a big, intense blast from just opening the box, and I suppose it was telling that I got only the mildest, milky coconut aroma – pretty enough – from the get-go.
I love some of Molton Brown’s products but this one is too mean and skimpy on the very thing it’s supposed to be. I’m not even linking.

Gosh, this seems like a very disappointing candle! I would be so upset after spending £55 for it to barely fragrance the room! Product to miss!

Oh no how disappointing! I got the best candle recently. The brand was Kew Gardens, the scent is fig and it’s an absolute dupe for the Diptyque fig candle, with a scent that fills the house. And the best thing about it is that it was only £4 in Sainsburys.
I bought the body wash in this fragrance – thankfully reduced at the time – and it is very disappointing. There’s, hardly any scent in the bottle and even less on the skin.
They used to do a glowing embers one which was very strong and lovely, I think they have renamed it. Sad as it looks so lovely & chic
So disappointing! Recently my favorite candles are from Zara… not so pricey and with a strong scent to fragrance a room for at least 3-4 hours.

Thank you for the honest review. Sometimes a candle has to pool out completely( the wax pool on top should be completely liquified edge to edge) and burn for a few hours to kick in. Sometimes that never happens and it is disappointing to buy a high end candle and it is scentless or off smelling. High end candles doesn’t always mean good and I have found reasonable priced candles here in the US that outperform and smell better than the expensive ones I’ve had. I recently burned a high end candle and it smelled literally like kerosene. I always make sure where I buy candles where there is a return policy. I am not familiar with UK candle brands, except a Jo Malone candle which I found really good as well it should be for the amount of money spent.
