L’Occitane Solidarity Balm

It’s always a pleasure to flag up the annual L’Occitane Solidarity Balm. The 2017 version is going to make a lot of people happy because it’s violet scented. And more sweet violet than parma violet, and a bit sherbet-y to my nose.

As a reminder, L’Occitane gives 100% of profits to the Fund for Gender Equality (partnering with the UN). This covers women’s economic and political empowerment with the objective of achieving equality where women and girls can freely exercise their leadership in all areas of public, economic and political life. The Fund has worked in 80 countries supporting 120 programmes.

Equality is a difficult concept in some countries and cultures – I am pretty sure I don’t need to explain why women and girls need supporting but bigger pictures stuff is being able to support yourself, understand and implement your rights and not being vulnerable to economic dependence on others can be life saving, quite literally.

So, at £4, Solidarity Balm is about more than just hydrating with shea butter, although that’s a very handy benefit for lips, elbows or any other wintery-dry bits, it’s thought and support in a little tin. Grab one for every girl you know to start a conversation about how women in other parts of the world don’t have the independence that we do. It’s HERE.
