Over the years I’ve got fonder of the scent of geranium – not least because I planted a climbing geranium that literally never stops flowering. It’s in exactly the right spot (accidentally) to be shielded from the worst of winter and last year continued to flower all through. Launching in October is the Jo Malone Geranium & Walnut Hand Cream – you will have to be a geranium fan because that’s the over-riding scent and it seems quite generous in that respect. I’m struggling to think of walnut as a scent that anyone would want to wear but in this blend it’s just a slightly nutty warmth to counterbalance the fullness of geranium.
I’m seeing this as more of a gifting item – it left my hands prettily scented and soft as you’d expect and didn’t leave a greasy or sticky feel. It’s £22 for 50ml which seems like a lot but Jo Malone is firmly in the luxury camp, price wise and I guess you could call this an entry point. It obviously still comes with all the Jo Malone flourish of tissue, box and ribbon which is why I’d be happy to gift this but wouldn’t necessarily buy it for myself.

I would love to know the climbing geranium’s name (and stockist). I must have one! Even though I live in Leeds!
Honestly Sue I don’t really know.. it’s an orange colour and I don’t think I even knew it was a climber – I can’t even remember where I got it.
There aren’t masses of orange geraniums – I shall go on a hunt! If I get lucky I shall let you know which beastie you have! First time I saw a geranium climb was in Kos – it was huge. I had no idea they could climb either. I live in a little warm spot in Leeds, so if you have managed to keep one alive in London, I shall try with an orange in Leeds.
When and where is this available?
this month but I don’t have an exact date.. from jomalone.com.
