YSL Lip Oil
YSL Lip Oil

Lip oils first made their appearance last year in 2013, but have taken a while to segue into makeup rather than treatment. I’ve already reviewed the Clarins Lip Oil (love it) coming for spring, but I’ve also spotted that YSL are also bringing out a version for spring (already out in the US) in the form of YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil.

A little like the Clarins version, YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil uses oils of apricot kernel, coriander fruit, jojoba and possiflora edulis seed oil (passionfruit) with colour so in theory you get hydration and colour benefits.

However, on the Body Shop site, I’ve spotted the Coconut Lip Oil for a bargain £4 – I think you can easily mix this with your favourite gloss – or lipstick if you’re prepared to mash a bit – to create your own version of lip oil. Obviously you can create your own tinted balm in the same way.

Either way, tinted lip oils are a forward trend that I think we’ll see an awful lot more of. YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil is $32 and the Clarins Lip Oil is £18 – I think we’ll see the YSL version in early 2015 but I don’t have any direct information from them on it yet.
