I’ve got a review sample of the new YSL foundation, Teint Radiance, coming out on 28th August, and it is very, very impressive. For a start, it isn’t matt – I can’t think of anything more ageing than taking any sheen or vitality out of the skin, and I’ve avoided all matt foundations for that very reason.

Teint Radiance has ultra-fine nylon particles of transparent pigment to capture light and play down imperfections, and coated pigments that aren’t affected by sebum or perspiration. The addition of hyaluronic acid means that skin stays moisturised. The press release talks of a ‘perfect balance between water and silicone’ making the formula feel weightless…for once, this is absolutely true. I applied it to be honest with little enthusiasm (hey, it’s Sunday; it’s my make up day off!) but once applied, it really made me sit up and take notice. It does feel perfectly silky, absolutely weightless and definitely moisturising. My skin looked fresh, glowy and impeccably even. Oh, and it’s SPF20.

I can’t see what’s going to beat this in the foundation stakes for A/W.
