Gucci Guilty Black
Gucci Guilty Black

I’m such a fan of Gucci Guilty (and it’s the only perfume that I’ve ever been stopped in the street – twice in one  day – to be asked what it is) that I really couldn’t fail to like this. Sure enough, it’s absolutely lovely. I like my fragrances on the sweet side and this is really sweet – in some ways it reminds me of First by Van Cleef & Arpels – but best of all, it’s a stayer. Unlike some fragrances that pretty much disappear after what feels like a moment, this doesn’t. It’s described as an oriental-floral, but I don’t really get too much spice; what there is, and why I love it, is a powdery note that’s hard to find in other scents. It’s instant love.

I’ve got to admit this was a real surprise. I’m not sure why anyone would buy a fragrance from a pen company (hope they’re not cringing reading that, but you know, Montblanc make pens, right?) but this is well worth a try if you like bright and fruity scents. There’s a good whack of orange blossom in it, as well as pear and bitter orange, and once again it has that powdery quality that makes it so feminine. It’s launching in The Perfume Shop on 28th March and it’s very well worth having a spritz.
