Even though it is perfectly possible to do a piecemeal home facial from all the beauty bits and bobs hanging around the bathroom, I love the concept of facial ‘kits’. I like that there is no heavy outlay, that you get to try several small size products before deciding that you’d like the retail sizes and that a kit really focuses me on going through the various procedures. This one, from The Sanctuary Spa, costs £16, and contains five small size products, all but one of which you can squeeze out another go. It’s a little bit oddly put together; on the one hand, there are very generous portions of Stop The Clock Moisturiser and Warming Microdermabrasion Polish, and yet only a one-shot sachet of Time Reversal Face Mask. Without the mask – which incidentally, I was really impressed with in terms of leaving my face looking markedly plumper – I sort of feel that the entire kit concept has disappeared for the second go. It would be much better if the mask came in a tube like all the other products, including Lift and Brighten Eye Complex and Firming Youth Serum, although you do get a voucher that offers £3 off anything from the Youth Boosting Range. I liked the step-by-step guide that gives instructions on how to apply the products (upsweep arrows etc), and the pampering concept. The results were immediate, and my skin did look as though it had been pampered; a little bit more glowy and definitely plumper and smoother. For £16, I’d say this is a great girlfriend gift or me-time indulgence pre-party.
