Q&A With Maxine Leonard, B. Makeup Ambassador

BBB:  I need to know the secret to keeping kohl liner on the inner rims!

ML: When applying liner in the inner rims rub the pencil in the root of the lashes so the product has something to hold onto, clean the excess off with some micellar water using a cotton bud and apply a small amount of concealer with a brush to finish under the eye.

BBB:  How do you prep a face to ensure make-up holds and lasts?

ML: Clean skin is a must! It’s important to exfoliate and moisturise to ensure makeup has a clean canvas for application. Prepping skin with a primer ensures your foundation stays on for longer and gives an even base, both vital for achieving a flawless finish. Spritzing the skin throughout the day with Caudalie Eau de Beauté rehydrates and refreshes the makeup and can also help stop breakouts.

BBB: What are your top five personal can’t-live-without beauty products.

BBB: Has the smoky eye died a death? What’s the newest trend for eyes?

ML: Not at all, the A/W13 shows still had a lot of dark eye makeup. Shades of smoky have changed and people are being braver in their approach by experimenting with different tones such as purples, greens, blues and greys. Trends are transient and it depends on what look you want to follow, however spending more time on creating flawless skin will be big, models at the shows had scrubbed faces, less mascara and more emphasis on bolder lips, brows and bright nails.

BBB: The look for summer is brights over nude – what products can you recommend from B to get the look.

ML: B. makeup has great pops of colour without it being too unrealistic and scary. The B Stunning Eye Shimmer’s come in great metallic purple and emerald tones and you can use the rose tones on your lips and cheeks as well as matching up the kohl pencils in the same colour and blending them into the shimmers to gives your eyes stand out. The B. Quick and Complete nail polishes come in hot pinks and orange for high summer and then all the bright berry tones for winter, I’m loving the Bubblegum and Bang shades. For the lips the B. Rich Intense Colour lipsticks are the best as they have great colour pay off and are long lasting and the B. Brilliant Lip Gloss are great for their non-sticky formula, the Raspberry Coulis shade is a particular favourite.
