I was imagining a sixties-style covering of pale lilac with this matte pencil – it’s nothing of the sort! I absolutely love it. The thing about the Summer collection from NARS is that all together it’s completely over the top, but more or less each thing, individually, is so wearable. And, so summery. I’ve done a complete about turn on this collection having thought it too avant guard previously.
It’s looking a little flat on the swatch because it only comes to life over the pinky brown shade of lips. It gives a wash of pale iridescence in a light coating of milky lilac that moves with the light – it gives lips a very individual look, but you do need pretty perfect lips to wear it well. It’s an exfoliation and overnight lip balm for me before I can even think about wearing this because my lips are very creased but probably worth the bother for it’s under-stated originality.
