Ever since I was alerted to the wonders of Lanolips by www.lipglossiping.com I’ve been a smitten fan. Kirsten Carriol, the Australian founder of Lanolips, was on a whistle stop tour of London to promote the launch of Lanolips into select branches of Boots so we hooked up. She’s slender as a stick, ultra-glamorous but with her feet firmly on the ground. Her passion for Lanolin (and bear in mind she must have repeated herself a hundred times on a gruelling round of press meets) is astonishing (she brought a vintage book on the wonders of Lanolin where she’d highlighted favourite passages) and she’s able to enthuse so eloquently and genuinely about her brand that it instantly rubs off. In any case, no persuasion was needed – she was preaching to the converted, as she’d already sent some samples of Lip Ointment With Colour that I’d loved and previously have blogged about. She’s combined the practicalities of lanolin – and hers is way purer than even medical grade lanolin – with glamour by adding colour to the lip balms that are suit-all and intensely flattering. They look and act like a lipgloss and yet, with lanolin’s ability to hold 200% of its own water, they are delivering ultimate moisture to your lips. Lanolin is a by-product of wool – you’d wear a woolly jumper, wouldn’t you? – and has a close affinity to human skin lipids which is why it is used in wound healing. Pick from shades Rose, Apples, Sunshine, Dark Honey or Rhubarb or just pick the 101 Ointment to slick over your existing lip colour. 101 Ointment can be used on just about everything from eczema, psoriasis, minor burns, dry cuticles and even claims to cure a squeaky door!

The newbie to the Lanolips party is Lanolips Rose Balm Intense For Very Dry Hands & Nails – smells so pretty and gives an intense hit of moisture. This will launch later than the Lip Balms. I also got a sneaky preview of a Lemonade flavoured balm – normally I am not a fan of this kind of thing..but it was so zesty and properly lemony with just a hint of sugar, that I’m a convert.

Look out for Lanolips launching in Boots in September – I don’t have a confirmed price but I believe the Lip Ointment will retail for around £7.
