It often happens that suddenly a brand arrives in the UK and then just as suddenly disappears again. I know that a lot of UK beauty lovers were disappointed when Kate Somerville (recently bought by Unilever) just vanished. Sometimes, it’s impossible to discover the reason; wrong retailer, poor support or even just not being able to manage an overseas growth spurt – any of these things can apply.

However, I can tell you that the brand is coming back to the UK in 2016 (but no exact dates). One of the products to look out for is EradiKate, very similar in formulation to Mario Badescu Drying Lotion for spots (and Kate does a very good oil free moisturiser as well). This is $24 on Sephora.. one of their lowest priced products, so depending upon the dollar conversion rate next year, it’s an affordable, sulphur driven treatment to zap break outs.

When a luxury level brand like Kate Somerville goes into a mass retailer like Sephora, they do have to price some items appropriately for the market and it looks like this is what happened here. Every brand needs an entry point product, and this is the Kate Somerville one. I know that there is an on-the-go kit coming – individual, pre-soaked cotton buds that you can spot treat if you feel something erupting.
