I used to absolutely love changing up my nail polish colours – I still do find it a relaxing thing to do but I’m not quite so keen as I used to be on doing it several times a week! When gel nail systems first came out I was reluctant to test them because I couldn’t imagine having the same colour nails for two weeks. Now, I think a little differently, and although I still wouldn’t want a two week stretch with a violent red, I’m seeing the benefit of longer lasting colours.

So, the Jessica Phenom range is that half-way house between full on, solid as a rock, two weeker nails and something that lasts longer than regular polish. It’s not a gel polish exactly, but the Phenom Vivid Colours (above) react with the photo initiator top coat (Finale Shine) when exposed to natural light to create a tougher, longer lasting coating.

Jessica is claiming 10 day wear – that’s impossible for someone like me tapping away on a keyboard, but I’ll be happy if I get five good days from it. I’m putting it to the test next week so I’ll report back if it doesn’t live up to expectations. The Vivid Colour range, by the way, is exceptional – some real beauties in there (see them HERE) and they’re £13.50 each – as is the topcoat. Shades I have above on the nail wheel (yes, finally got some ordered!) are from bottom to top: Geisha Girl, Barbie Pink and Jessica Red.

  1. It’s rare that I really like red shades, but all of these are lovely!
