Every year one brand or another gets a 70’s vibe on and tries to bring back the roller ball lip gloss. Last year it was Lauder, now this year we have Isadora Fruity Lip Rollers. If you’re looking to go retro or even bring back some 1970’s summer memories (because didn’t we ALL have on?) these are spot on and in terms of fruity scents, its like basting your lips in liquid Fruit Salad sweeties. You get a lovely, clear shine that will last all of a second because the temptation to lick it off is so high! However, if you do, you’ll be disappointed – there is pretty much no taste at all; these are all about the fragrance with only the lightest sweet hint to the gloss. Which is about right because you’re not actually supposed to eat it!
The scents are Melon Breeze, Berry Cooler, Fruit Punch, Mango Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri but I’m still craving for the old bubblegum flavoured ones and I am pretty sure those were a brand called Bonne Belle. Bring them back! As ever, Isadora is impossible to find in the UK, so if you have friends in Europe or you’re visiting, they’re just fun things to have (if rather expensive at £9.95).

I live in Norway and am SO picking one of these up this summer! I’m a 90s kid, so never experienced the first round of roller ball glosses, but they sure were a hit in my time too. Fun!
£9.95?! Shocking! No way would I spend that amount on one of those!
I remember these in the late 80’s when I was at high shool. Loved them then and love them now!
Brings back so many memories!
I will definitely have to make a sneaky purchase 😉
Thanks for sharing Jane!

Bonne Bell Lip Smacker Roll Ons in Bubblegume!! My first ever lip product….I want one now! I can still remember the sickly sweet ‘pink’ smell!
If you’re hankering after bubble-gum scented lip gloss, you should try Barry M’s glossy tubes. I have Passion Pink and the smell is beyond gorgeous, like a screw ball ice cream.
This product brings back happy make-up memories from the 1970s … Bonne Belle lipgloss from Woolworths sneaked into my school blazer pocket … Didn’t Max Factor do a posher version of rollerball gloss … Lip Potion? There were some mad flavours … Canada Dry Ginger Ale springs to mind ….
I’ve tried Isadora lipsticks and loved them for the fruity fragrance, these look so luscious!
